Policy advocacy

CCDR works within its mandate of ensuring policy adoption and execution. Through the office of Legal and Policy Manager the organization reviews and orients beneficiaries on the National and International policies.

Juvenile ex-convicts

Looking at the need arising from current juvenile convicts and ex-convicts on personal development during and after prison sentence, CCDR has introduced a program that will work directly work with young people of this caliber and try to help them in all areas of need. This program further requests partners interested in the program to team up with our team of young people.

“CCDR envision a Malawi where children have the opportunity to grow and develop to their full potential in a caring, supportive, and protective environment that facilitates a well-rounded development of citizenry essential for sustainable development”.

Child Marriage

CCDR understands the violations of human rights which come with child marriages hence it works with its partners through the multi-prolonged approach. The approach involves a diverse of strategies such as working with mother groups, supporting local leaders to establish and enforce by-laws, role modeling, and strengthening child protection structures among others to ensure that children enjoy their childhood without being engaged in child marriages.

Child Trafficking

Child trafficking is present in Malawi with children trafficked both internally for labour on tobacco and tea estates, and externally for commercial sex working and labour, common to countries such as South Africa (IOM). Some trafficked children also face abuse and violence which include rape, defilement, incest and beating. However some incidents are not reported due to a culture of silence. Official figures again are scarce, but broken homes, orphan hood, lack of parental care and guidance are some driving factors for juvenile crime in the Organizational and causes of children coming in to contact with the law. Thus, CCDR through its initiative targeting both in and out of school children especially in communities around major borders in Malawi is sensitizing and empowering children and young people on issues related to child trafficking.
